Rows of pretty colourful doughnuts with varieties of coatings can be found at the Taiwan Pavillion during the Malaysia International F&B Trade Fair at Putra World Trade Centre last week. For those with sweet tooth, this is simply heaven!

Early Morn at Broga Hills

At the break of dawn, don't be surprise to see over 100 people up on Broga Hills waiting for sunrise. Many are students who came from nearby universities. I believe these few youngsters in my shot are also students who took up the challenge to wake up early morning to reach the peak of Broga Hills for photos of sunrise!

Voluntary Patrolling Unit (VPU)

Through the effort of residents of USJ and Subang Jaya, a Voluntary Patrolling Unit (in short, VPU) has been formed, with joint-effort with police from USJ8 Police Station and MPSJ (Subang Jaya Council).

The aim of VPU is to deter crime from taking place in our township. The VPU started in Jan this year by volunteers who comprised of retirees, housewives, business owners and even working people who contributed at least 2 hours per month to patrol our residential areas with 2 police officers joining us and a vehicle with driver from MPSJ.

However, in recent days we have seen MPSJ playing a lesser role. Whenever the vehicle is required by the council, our VPU team would be left with no vehicle. Fortunately, the new OCPD Puan Chia of USJ8 Police Station still give us her fullest support by providing us 2 police officers to accompany these volunteers on patrol. We are hoping that MPSJ will play a more dynamic role in supporting USJ & SJ residents in their initiative to reduce crime such as snatch theft, break-ins in this township.

Seen in this photo are 2 VPU members on patrol with 2 police officers on motorbike accompanying them. The VPU members would patrol in a vehicle not on foot. I asked these VPU members (whom are my friends) to get down from their vehicle in order to have their photo taken with the police officers. I am proud to be a member of this VPU team who is helping to reduce the crime rate in our township.

Paka Beach

Paka in Trengganu state is popular as this is where Petronas (our national oil & gas company) has its refineries. The refineries have helped in building the economy in this coastal village. Recently I had the opportunity to visit Paka for work purpose.

This is a photo that I took about 8am in the morning on the beach of Paka. The beach has an ethereal feel to it, with the mist still lingering at the mountain range across from where this photo was taken. It was a public holiday in celebration of Sultan Trengganu's Birthday and still early in the morning. There was hardly anyone on the beach. It was a chilling morning as it rained throughout the night. This combination of scene and temperature gave me a very calming feeling. As such I didn't feel lousy that I have to work on that day although it is a public holiday in the state of Trengganu! Hope to return to Paka again!

Putrajaya Floria Fest 2010

Sorry that I have been away from blogging for sometime.

The latest event in town is the Putrajaya Floria Fest 2010 held at Precint 2 of Putrajaya. This is the 2nd year I had attended this flower and garden festival. For one who loves gardening, I love visiting the flower displays but my favourite would be the nursery booths. There were so many different plants and flowers available for sale. This year there is no Edible Garden section. It was my favourite section last year. In the Edible Garden, visitors get to see herbs, vegetables and fruits plants. On top of that, chefs demonstrated cooking recipes using various edible plants and herbs and we get to taste the food too!

Flower display competition was held in conjunction with the flower festival.
I like this display that is all made of fresh and dried flowers, leaves and items such as barley, green & red beans, saga seeds and many more. The crocodile and Rafflesia blooms looked really good. Isn't this display brilliant?

Durian Feasting Again!

Oh ya!! I committed another sinful act of feasting on durian again!! A close friend surprised us with a visit and he brought along durians!! Wow, what a great gift! Together, we feast on those durians although I was heading to a dinner later on. How could one resist this??? Love the rich, bitter-sweet flavour of these D24 and IOI durians. Yup, those are the names of the durians.

Burp.......! d^_^b Excuse me.

"Use your first smile, your first form of generosity, of love, of kindness—use it at home; start at home. And if there is something left over—if … your plate is just full of abundance of patience and goodness and smiles and joy, then by all means, you should go … and offer that to others. But we must begin at home." by Dr Robin Smith
