"Knock Knock" Candy

This man is selling a kind of candy. I don't know what it is made of but there are some sesame seeds in it. The name of the candy is called "Knock Knock" candy (literally translated from the Chinese version that we called "Kok Kok"). Why such a name? As you can see, the seller would have to knock piece by piece of candy from the whole tray. The candy is sold in mouth-sized pieces. It is not easy to find such candy seller anymore. I was fortunate to find him at Melaka's Jonker Walk. I used to buy this candy from a seller outside my school a long time ago! It brings back happy memories of my school days.

What are the things that can bring you back to your happy school days?

Nice memories. There are two things that are fond memories of my school days. One is a kind of keropok (crackers) sold by an old lady in front of the school, add some chilli sauce on top of the large cracker...delicious. The other one is ice ball (make of ice shavings) with only red beans inside the ice ball and coloured outside with syrup. It costs ten cents. Geez, does that makes me sounds so old..hehehe

Oh Alice, I remember those ice shaving ball!! We don't get it here anymore. I miss that, especially with lotsa evaporated milk poured on it and you just suck on the cold ice on a stifling hot day after school! Mmmm...heavenly!!!

Clarice, tulips on spring ~ I love that too!! Bet it brings back many fond memories.

"Use your first smile, your first form of generosity, of love, of kindness—use it at home; start at home. And if there is something left over—if … your plate is just full of abundance of patience and goodness and smiles and joy, then by all means, you should go … and offer that to others. But we must begin at home." by Dr Robin Smith
