My World Tuesday - Influenza A(H1N1)

Caught this family in masks at the PC Fair in KLCC on Sunday. It is wise of them to wear a mask as prevention from possible transmission of Influenza A(H1N1).

In Malaysia, there have been 8 deaths caused by this influenza. Some schools and universities have been closed. Even National Service has been stopped temporarily. Hospitals, airports or even gyms are taking close precaution, such as health declaration by individuals or taking temperature of people entering their premises.

How is this influenza affecting your
city?

Argggh, H1N1 is really scary. I doubt I am travelling anywhere this year. There's been six deaths and about 100 still in hospital with about 9 in ICU. I hope a vaccine would be found very soon.

But life still goes on in here, but most wear masks only in the hospitals. I try to avoid crowded places if possible.

The media is scaring us all in Sweden. London is suffering from the flu, and it's due to strike here as schools start in about 2.5 weeks' time... Apparently, the vaccine won't be delivered until the end of September.

Here too there have been a number of related deaths but it is impossible to ascertain howmany were actually due to the flu and not the existing underlying conditions.

Everyone's more conscious about coughing or sneezing in public now!

"Use your first smile, your first form of generosity, of love, of kindness—use it at home; start at home. And if there is something left over—if … your plate is just full of abundance of patience and goodness and smiles and joy, then by all means, you should go … and offer that to others. But we must begin at home." by Dr Robin Smith
