In a recent discussion with some friends, we talked about how nature being impartial and yet human are not. Many times when things don't go well, we feel that we are not good enough. We feel a sense of lacking in all forms ~ capabilities, beauty, intelligence, wealth, love and etc.
We allow our minds to stray towards negativism and we continue to sink in those negative thoughts. We let ourselves be dragged down!
Our mind is the forerunner of all we are ~ this is the 1st verse in the Dhammapada (a Buddhist text on teachings of the Buddha). My friend said we should see ourselves as being a complete, wholesome person that is not lacking. If we believe in that, we can retain a positive outlook regardless of what happens around us. His words sunk deep into me and I found them to be very profound.
I am writing it down here so that whenever I have doubt about myself, I can always come back to this post and contemplate on his words. At the same time, I can share this profound discussion with all of you too.
Wish you a contemplative Sunday!
