Countdown to Wesak Day

It's wonderful that Wesak Day this year falls on a Monday. That gives us devotees longer time to celebrate and usher this auspicious day.

As it is a Saturday today, many Buddhist devotees thronged the Brickfields Maha Vihara in Kuala Lumpur to attend a Wesak Concert. We also took the opportunity to do a puja (prayers) together, below the Bodhi trees at the temple compound.

Together, we pray for a peaceful Wesak celebration, harmony for Malaysia, comfort healing and calmness for the victims hit by the calamities of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar & earthquake in Sichuan, China. May all be well and happy. May all be free from physical sufferings. May all be free for mental sufferings.

How is the Wesak preparations in your city?

"Use your first smile, your first form of generosity, of love, of kindness—use it at home; start at home. And if there is something left over—if … your plate is just full of abundance of patience and goodness and smiles and joy, then by all means, you should go … and offer that to others. But we must begin at home." by Dr Robin Smith
