June 2008 Theme Day - My Local Corner Shop

This is my corner local shop! This is where I was born and grew up! It's my home in Melaka. My late Grandpa opened this shop and later on when he passed away, my late Dad managed it. Now the 3rd generation, my brother, manages this shop! It is a small grocery store, located in the historical part of Melaka town. This photo was taken 9 years ago when my nieces & nephew were little kids & just learnt how to do the "Peace" sign.

I can still recall whenever Mom needs onions, garlic or soya sauce, I just ran up front and told my late Dad that I need those. It is so convenient!! Mom would get her stuff in minutes!

Till today, I still get my groceries from my brother whenever I go back home to Melaka. It will always be my favourite store, Dad!

Wow...what an interesting history this shop has. You tell the story so well how come you weren't the one who inherited the shop from your ancestors? I hope your brother can pass it on to another generation. All the best!

That is the real meaning of a convenience store; just go and ask your dad. A lovely story!

This is a perfect example and one of the purest examples of the theme. A lovely story too.

This is such a great photo; so friendly, just as your corner shop should be. I like what I see on your blog and I am adding it to my favorites to check often. Drop in to see me again sometime.

You lucky fella. Do you get to pick the sweets etc from the shop? Or it was prohibited :-)

Happy Theme Day!

Hi J.C. like the photo, like the cute kids and I find your story touching.

Somethings and some places will forever be close to our heart and will never be replaceable.

"Use your first smile, your first form of generosity, of love, of kindness—use it at home; start at home. And if there is something left over—if … your plate is just full of abundance of patience and goodness and smiles and joy, then by all means, you should go … and offer that to others. But we must begin at home." by Dr Robin Smith
