ABC Wednesday - 'Q' is for Quietude

This week's ABC Wednesday theme is 'Q' and I find it rather difficult. The last posting that I did for 'Q' was Queen of My Heart ~ My Mom. This time around I had to search through my Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary to find what can I post for this letter. I ended up with the word quietude. Frankly, I didn't know what it means.

The Oxford dictionary defined it as a noun that carries the meaning of stillness or calm. The
online thesaurus associates this word with serenity, silence and tranquility.

I found a photo taken during my backpacking trip to the Silk Road 2 years ago that shows a very tranquil scene of a yurt with a lady doing her washing in front of it. In the background was the Karakule Lake of Xinjiang, China. I find calmness and peace in this scene. How about you?

ABC Wednesday returns today with the theme 'Q'. Visit it to find out what is posted for this theme!

I do too. And much beauty. What an amazing contrast between the brown hills and the snowy mountain.

Variations on the word quiet was probably was on the plurality of ABCW posts, but yours is possibly the quietest.

Hello JC, beautiful pic. Love the scene....and having a hobby of fishing can't help wondering about that Lake background, ha ha,
I read you in Subang Jaya.
I stayed there once, about a year in early 80s.
My house was wayyyyy at the last road then, behind Oil Palm estates....

The last time I balek kampong in 2002, I couldn't recognise the place.
The wet market had a high rise where it was.
But had nice memories while staying there.

Very nice of you to drop by my pondok....always a pleasure have someone who appreciates orchids, and 'quietude' come by, ha ha.
You stay easy and keep a song in your heart, best regards, Lee.

Absolute calmness and peace. How lucky you are to have visited this area.

"Use your first smile, your first form of generosity, of love, of kindness—use it at home; start at home. And if there is something left over—if … your plate is just full of abundance of patience and goodness and smiles and joy, then by all means, you should go … and offer that to others. But we must begin at home." by Dr Robin Smith
