Revisited Tanjung Sepat

The last time I visited Tanjung Sepat, it was 4 years ago. Since then, the Hai Yew Heng pau shop has expanded and has been operating in a new shop, just opposite its old coffee shop.  I met the elderly lady boss who was making fresh pau during my recent visit. She was still very friendly and smilingly pose for my camera.  The only difference was her hair was golden in colour.  It was black previously.

 I love the Mui Choi (preserved vegetables) pau from Hai Yew Heng.

ABC Wednesday - 'J' is for Jetty

This posting is for the ABC Wednesday's meme. Today's posting is photo of a 'Jetty' to represent the letter 'J'.

This Jetty is located at Tanjung Sepat. It was mid-day and some fisherman boats have just returned from the sea with their catch of the day. As it is also a Saturday, we can see some boys with their fishing rods at the jetty enjoying their hobby.

Skywatch Friday - Twilight at Sepang Goldcoast

Caught this photo at Sepang Goldcoast during our trip to Tanjung Sepat. We were lucky to be able to catch the last tinge of brightness on the sky. And don't you agree with me that the sky was marvellous looking? I also managed to capture the evening star, or according to Wikipedia that is the planet, Venus.

The bright lights and the buildings on stilts are the Sepang Goldcoast luxurious chalets. The lowest priced one-room unit chalet cost half a million Malaysian Ringgit!!! We didn't manage to view the interior of the showroom as the sales office was already closed when we got there. Wow, wouldn't it be lovely to enjoy the glorious sunset in the luxury of these chalets! Mmmm....how I wish!

I also found something informative and new to me about twilight in Wikipedia. It says, "Twilight is specifically defined as the period before daytime or after nighttime during which it is possible to conduct outdoor activities without the aid of artificial light. Due to the unusual, romantic quality of the ambient light at this time, twilight has long been popular with photographers and painters, who refer to it as the "blue hour", after the French expression l'heure bleue.

Evening civil twilight begins at sunset and ends when the center of the Sun reaches 6° below the horizon (the point of civil dusk). The brightest stars appear during civil twilight, as well as planets, such as Venus, which is known as the 'morning star' and/or 'evening star'. During this period there is enough light from the Sun that artificial sources of light may not be needed to carry on outdoor activities. "

ABC Wednesday - 'P' is for Pau of Tanjung Sepat

We visited a local Hainanese coffee shop called Hai Yew Heng in Tanjung Sepat that is famous for its steamed pau, or in English, steamed bun. Hainanese are Chinese people who originated from the island of Hainan in China. In Malaysia, they are usually involved in F&B trade, e.g. coffee shop or restaurant.

We had to call the coffee shop ahead of our arrival to order our paus. Most of my friends ordered by dozens. As I only plan to have them for tea time, I decided not to place an order ahead. We arrived at the coffee shop at 3pm. However, the whole coffee shop was filled up with a busload of tourists. We checked with the kitchen if the pre-ordered paus are ready but was told to return at 5pm. No pau was available for those of us who didn't order ahead!!! Arrgggh!! That meant no pau for me! Fortunately my kind friends offered me some.

The paus came with various fillings. For sweet fillings, customers have a choice between kaya (a sweet fragrant cream made of eggs and coconut milk), peanuts or green beans. For savoury fillings, there are pork, sengkuang (yambean, in English) and pork with preserved mui choi vegie.

I once heard a dim sum expert said that a good pau skin is supposed to be soft and fluffy, not chewy where it would get stuck in ones teeth. The steamed paus of Hai Yew Heng certainly have those qualities! And their mui choi pork & kaya steamed buns are fabulous!! I will certainly go back there again for more of these paus!!!

Tanjung Sepat - Fishermen

At the Tanjung Sepat Jetty, we managed to catch some fishermen returning from the sea with their bounty. The fresh fishes were then lifted onto motorbikes that deliver them to the town's fishballs producer. This town is very famous for its fishballs!

Tanjung Sepat - Mushroom Farm

During our trip to Tanjung Sepat, we visited a mushroom farm. Amazingly, mushrooms are very interesting photography subject for me. It's the first time I took close-up shots of mushrooms. With the natural light coming from one direction, the mushrooms look so beautifully posed, just waiting for me to capture their beauty! Look at those stunning mushrooms above! Bet you agree with me!

Oh my!!! I forgot that it's SkyWatch Friday! Only this evening as I was driving, I remembered that today is Friday!!! Gosh, time really flies. It's end of the week already! How can I forgot the anticipation of the arrival of Friday! I rushed home to get the SkyWatch photo below posted! I don't want to miss out on SkyWatch!

Below is a photo of the sky that I took when we were out on an outing to Tanjung Sepat, Selangor last Saturday. Tanjung Sepat is a fishing village on the southern coast of Selangor. We had the sun, the sea and most of all the delicious local food ~ noodle with kembung fish for breakfast, seafood lunch, yummy pau (buns) & local coffee during tea time, seafood steamboat for dinner & fishballs to bring home!!! Amazing small town with so much to offer its visitors!! Hope you like this coconut tree and clouds photo that I have here for all of you!
