Monochrome Monday - Wanna Grow Old With You

The song from The Wedding Singer is very matching for today's posting. Here's the song lyric to go with it:

I wanna make you smile
Whenever you're sad
Carry you around
When your arthritis is bad
All I wanna do is
Grow old with you.
I'll get you medicine
When your tummy aches
Build you a fire
When the furnace breaks
It could be so nice
Growing old with you.
I'll miss you
I'll kiss you
Give you my coat when you are cold
Need you
Feed you
Even let you hold the remote control
Let me do the dishesIn our kitchen sink
Put you to bed
When you've had too much to drink
I could be the man who
Grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you

The video for this song can be seen below.

ABC Wednesday - 'Q' is for Queue

We were in a queue to pay the toll at the Sprint Highway in Petaling Jaya. It is common of highways in Klang Valley where drivers are required to pay toll to use them. There are several lanes for drivers to pay the toll. One can either choose to pay by Cash (in Malay language, Tunai), or either through the prepaid card mode, Touch n Go, or if you have a detector device with your Touch n Go card slot in, you can use the Smart Tag lane (which most of the time has no queue!).

For other postings of ABC Wednesday, do visit the ABC Wednesday Round 3 portal hosted by Mr. Linky.

I would like to dedicate this song by Alanis Morissette, "Everything" to my dear Mom. I hardly show my appreciation to you, Mom, I want to thank you for standing by me all the time even though I can sometimes be a rebellious, stubborn child that is hard to handle. Love you always!

Everything
=========

I can be an asshole of the grandest kind
I can withhold like it's going out of style
I can be the moodiest baby and you've never met anyone
Who is as negative as I am sometimes

I am the wisest woman you've ever met.
I am the kindest soul with whom you've connected.
I have the bravest heart that you've ever seen
And you've never met anyone
Who's as positive as I am sometimes.

You see everything, you see every part
You see all my light and you love my dark
You dig everything of which I'm ashamed
There's not anything to which you can't relate
And you're still here

I blame everyone else, not my own partaking
My passive-aggressiveness can be devastating
I'm terrified and mistrusting
And you've never met anyone as,
As closed down as I am sometimes.

You see everything, you see every part
You see all my light and you love my dark
You dig everything of which I'm ashamed
There's not anything to which you can't relate
And you're still here

What I resist, persists, and speaks louder than I know
What I resist, you love, no matter how low or high I go

I'm the funniest woman that you've ever known
I'm the dullest woman that you've ever known
I'm the most gorgeous woman that you've ever known
And you've never met anyone
Who is as everything as I am sometimes

You see everything (you see everything), you see every part (you see every part )
You see all my light (you see all my light) and you love my dark (and you love my dark )
You dig everything (you dig everything) of which I'm ashamed (of which I'm ashamed)
There's not anything (there's not anything) to which you can't relate (to which you can't relate)
And you're still here

(You see everything, you see every part)
And you're still here
(You see all my light and you love my dark)
And you're still here
(You dig everything of which I'm ashamed)
(There's not anything to which you can't relate)
And you're still here...

Prayers

Two days ago, I received the news that a friend is diagnosed with 3rd stage breast cancer. She is full of fear and refuses to speak to her concerned family members. She has started her chemotheraphy. I will pray for her and hope she will recover. I pray that she has the physical and mental strength to fight this illness. LC, please stay strong. We will all be praying for your quick recovery!
I read in the July 2008's John Hopkins Cancer Update newsletter that:
"Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life."

I would like to dedicate this song to all of you. Remove your inhibitions & live your life to the fullest! Here's Natasha Beddingfield's Unwritten.

Wanna Go Home

After a long day in Pulau Ketam, my feet were tired, my shoulders were raw from sunburnt, my body was sweaty & sticky all over, I just can't wait to go home for a cool shower and great dinner!

This is the air-conditioned ferry that took me back to Port Klang. The ride took 45 minutes. The moment I hit my seat, I put my tired feet up, closed my eyes and had a good nap throughout the journey. Luckily, a kind girl from Pulau Ketam woke me up upon arrival at Port Klang's jetty.

I am fortunate to be the kind of person that can sleep comfortably anywhere, anytime!!! What about you?

Close to You? Or May I Come Closer?

The T-shirts that these promoters were wearing reminds me of The Carpenters song, Close To You. While searching on YouTube, I found an anime with this song. Something that is different from the usual Karen Carpenter's performance. Hope you enjoy viewing it.

Price Hike & Long Queues

What is the connection between price hike and long queues?

At 6pm yesterday, SMS were flying around about petrol's 40% price hike when the clock struck midnite. By the time we went out to get things in preparation for our friends' wedding, we witnessed queues at all petrol stations in Subang Jaya. Everyone wanted to fill their vehicle tanks prior to the price increase. It led to massive traffic jam all over Subang Jaya. The jam was worsened by the heavy downpour during peak hours! Unfortunately, our local power utility company also announced an 18% hike in its rate!!! With these 2 price hikes, we shall be hit by many other price increases real soon!!!

What is the situation like in your city?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To cheer all of you up, I would like to share this animation that I found on YouTube. While going online to get some inspiration for my friend's wedding preparation, I discovered great animations on weddings. Here's one highly creative wedding invitation presented in the form of animation. Do enjoy! Let's not allow the woe over price hikes spoil our day!

2008 Wesak International Film Festival

So glad to receive this poster from a friend on the upcoming 2008 Wesak International Film Festival (WIFF). This would be the 3rd WIFF organized. Over the 2 weekends, there would be many Buddhist films, documentaries & animation being shown. Details of screening can be found here.

It was at the 1st WIFF held 2 years ago that I was introduced to a film from Bhutan called "The Cup". It was a movie about a group of Tibetan monks living in a monastery in India. The story focused on a young monk with strong passion for soccer and went all out to watch it during the World Cup. It also showed how he was careless and self-centered but eventually turned into an understanding person at the end of the movie. I was also fascinated by the life & cultural aspects of the Tibetan monks featured through this movie. The fact that none of the actors in the movie were regular actors and this was the director’s first movie and made on a shoe-string budget, made it more impressive.

So, I will try to watch as many movies as possible over the 2 weekends when WIFF is running! Meanwhile, you can catch a short glimpse of The Cup that I found on YouTube. Happy viewing! Hope it perks up your Monday!

Fishing at Bagan Hailam

Three good friends out on a fishing trip at the jetty at Bagan Hailam. They were greeted by beautiful clouds & colours across the sky.

Wish you have a beautiful sky above your head this weekend, just like these three guys!

Sing along with the video above.

Eternal Flame
==============

Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating, do you understand?
Do you feel the same, am I only dreaming?
Is this burning an eternal flame?

I believe it's meant to be, darling
I watch when you are sleeping, you belong to me
Do you feel the same, am I only dreaming
Or is this burning an eternal flame?

Say my name, sun shines through the rain
A whole life so lonely, and then you come and ease the pain
I don't want to lose this feeling

[break]

Say my name, sun shines through the rain
A whole life so lonely, and then you come and ease the pain
I don't want to lose this feeling

Close your eyes and give me your hand
Do you feel my heart beating, do you understand?
Do you feel the same, am I only dreaming
Or is this burning an eternal flame?

[break]

Is this burning an eternal flame?

An eternal flame?

(Close your eyes and give me your hand
Do you feel my heart beating, do you understand?
Do you feel the same, am I only dreaming
Or is this burning an eternal flame?)

Graphical Dimension

What do you think of this graphical collage? Capture this at Sunway Pyramid. I like the way the large photos are arranged, from small to large and it gave the wall a 3-dimensional depth. Brilliant arrangement!

Meanwhile, I would like to share with you this song by Daniel Powter - Bad Day. Like the lyric and the MV of this song. Hope you have a wonderful Thursday!

Bad Day
by Daniel Powter

Where is the moment we needed the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue skies fade to gray
They tell me your passion's gone away
And I don't need no carryin' on

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You're faking a smile with the coffee you go
You tell me your life's been way off line
You're falling to pieces every time
And I don't need no carryin' on

Because you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Will you need a blue sky holiday?
The point is they laugh at what you say
And I don't need no carryin' on

You had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day

(Oooh.. a holiday..)

Sometimes the system goes on the blink
And the whole thing turns out wrong
You might not make it back and you know
That you could be well oh that strong
And I'm not wrong

(yeah...)

So where is the passion when you need it the most
Oh you and I
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
You've seen what you like
And how does it feel for one more time
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

New Soul

For today's posting, I present a photo of my little niece Ying Ying. She is a bubbly 3-year old who enjoys good food! Her photos always put a smile on me! Just like this song 'New Soul' by Yael Naim. It's a chirpy song with beautiful lyrics. The music video and song also bring smiles to me! Hope you enjoy!

Wish you a Happy weekend!

New Soul by Yael Naim
---------------------

I'm a new soul
I came to this strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit bout how to give and take
But since I came here, felt the joy and the fear
Finding myself making every possible mistake

La, la, la, la (21x)
La, la, la, la (21x)

See I'm a young soul in this very strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit bout what is true and fake
But why all this hate? try to communicate
Finding trust and love is not always easy to make

La, la, la, la (21x)
La, la, la, la (21x)

This is a happy end
Cause you don't understand
Everything you have done
Why's everything so wrong

This is a happy end
Come and give me your hand
I'll take you far away

I'm a new soul
I came to this strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit bout how to give and take
But since I came here, felt the joy and the fear
Finding myself making every possible mistake

New soul... (la, la, la, la,...)
In this very strange world...
Every possible mistake
Possible mistake
Every possible mistake
Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes...

"Use your first smile, your first form of generosity, of love, of kindness—use it at home; start at home. And if there is something left over—if … your plate is just full of abundance of patience and goodness and smiles and joy, then by all means, you should go … and offer that to others. But we must begin at home." by Dr Robin Smith
