ABC Weds - 'J' - Japanese Food Fair

ABC Weds is in its Round 9 now. It has been a long time since I participated. I am glad to join in this week's theme of 'J'. Here's a Japanese Food Fair held at the One Utama Shopping Mall in Petaling Jaya over last weekend. It attracted a lot of shoppers and we were also delighted with the many booths that served Japanese food for us to taste. Have you been a Japanese Food Fair? What Japanese food do you enjoy most?

ABC Wednesday - 'Z' is for Zest

This young school children performed the traditional Chinese 24-Drums with zest during our recent Joy, Fellowship & Leadership Concert. It was truly entertaining watching them!

ABC Wednesday - 'V' is for Vacation

ABC Wednesday returns with the theme 'V'.

'V' is for Vacation. My nieces and nephews spent their vacation in Kuala Lumpur with us this week. Today we visited Pulau Ketam, a fishing village near Port Klang. They had their first experience of taking ferry ride today. This is the ferry that brought us to Pulau Ketam from the jetty at Port Klang.

ABC Wednesday - 'U' is for Upside Down

'U' is for Upside Down! This boy was hanging upside down from the monkey bar at the playground near my house. It's so fun to take photos of this boy and his friends who had a good time playing at this playground.

It's ABC Wednesday again and for today's 'R' theme, the posting will be River Cruise. This is the night scene of Melaka River near the Stadhuys roundabout if one takes the cruise along Melaka River. The cruise takes about 45 minutes. Tourism Melaka has taken the effort to beautify the riverside with beautiful, colourful lights to make the cruise a beautiful one for guests.

ABC Wednesday - 'Q' is for Quietude

This week's ABC Wednesday theme is 'Q' and I find it rather difficult. The last posting that I did for 'Q' was Queen of My Heart ~ My Mom. This time around I had to search through my Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary to find what can I post for this letter. I ended up with the word quietude. Frankly, I didn't know what it means.

The Oxford dictionary defined it as a noun that carries the meaning of stillness or calm. The online thesaurus associates this word with serenity, silence and tranquility.

I found a photo taken during my backpacking trip to the Silk Road 2 years ago that shows a very tranquil scene of a yurt with a lady doing her washing in front of it. In the background was the Karakule Lake of Xinjiang, China. I find calmness and peace in this scene. How about you?

'L is for lunch! This is the delicious Nyonya Mee Siam that we had for lunch last Sunday when a group of my friends came down to my hometown, Melaka, in preparation for a youth exchange programme that we are organizing. Doesn't it look yummy?

ABC Wednesday - 'K' is for Korean Barbecue

ABC Wednesday returns with the theme 'K' today. For today's theme, I am posting my favourite meal i.e. Korean Barbecue!

Korean wave has hit our shore since Korean drama series become popular TV prime time success. Korean restaurants, music, movie and fashion are very common with the locals now. We have many Korean barbecue restaurants in USJ Taipan now. This is one of my favourites, Daorae Korean Restaurant. These photos show the preparation of grilled meat by the restaurant staff. The meat is served with myriad side dishes. Mmmm...this is yummy!!

ABC Wednesday - 'J' is for Joss Stick Urn

ABC Wednesday returns with the theme 'J' for this week. 'J' is for Joss Stick Urn. This urn with ornate dragon design on it is found at the Thean Hou Temple in Kuala Lumpur. It is during Chinese New Year period and you can see some devotees praying in the temple.

ABC Wednesday - 'I' is for In Long Queue

For today's theme of 'I', my posting would be 'In Long Queue'. You wouldn't believe why all these people are willing to brave the hot, scorching sun for! They are waiting for a table at one of the famous chicken rice ball shops in my hometown, Melaka. The chicken rice in this shop is served in the form a a ball, the size of a golf ball. It is a famous Hainanese delicacy that can only be found in Melaka. It tastes very good and that's why these people are willing to be in this long queue!! Would you be willing to do the same?

ABC Wednesday - 'H' is for Herbal Remedy

'H' stands for Herbal Remedy. That's what I would go for whenever I feel like I am going to be down with a sore throat or flu. This photo shows a herbal jelly that I could usually get from Chinese herbal shop. It's usually eaten with honey or syrup to reduce its bitter flavour. It's one remedy that I can always rely on!!

It was school holiday last week. The children back in my hometown in Melaka had a good time playing the "Tumbling Monkey" game throughout the weekend. See how focused each of them were in trying to remove a coloured skewer without dropping any little monkeys hanging on it! The winner is the one who collected the least monkey!

'F' stands for flags! In Malaysia, flags of our country is flying proudly throughout the month of August as we will be celebrating our country's 52nd National Day on the last day of the month!

I caught the photo of these flags hung along the fence of a school in Meru, Klang.

ABC Wednesday - 'B' is for "Bodhi Wishing Tree"

This is a Bodhi tree made of papers and tree branches. It was set up at the entrance of the Shah Alam Buddhist Association. Wishes are written on the card made in the shape of a Bodhi leaf and tied up to branches. Many children from the Sunday School placed their wishes on the tree.
