Beauty & The Bloom

It was another visit to Kayangan that brings me lotsa joy. Last Sat, with some friends we volunteer to clean up the bamboo grove in Kayangan. Of course, I brought along my camera to capture the beautiful plants there.

Here is a beautiful flower by the pond. Sorry, I don't know the name of this flower. If anyone know the name, please drop me a comment.

I was so lucky that a butterfly decided to stop by this beautiful bloom when I was clicking on my shutter! Wouldn't you call that lucky?

Lotus in Bamboo Grove

I caught this photo while visiting Kayangan last Sun. Trying to be creative by adding the Ikea candle holder in the photo. This lotus was planted in a huge pot within the bamboo grove. The Bamboo Grove is a site within Kayangan. It has a very soothing surrounding and meditation is being carried out here.

Another photo of the lotus against the blue sky and green bamboo trees. They are so refreshing and soothing.

Which photo do you prefer?
Wish you all a great weekend.

Crimson Bromeliad

It has been awhile since I went to Kayangan. Yesterday was a close friend's birthday and one of our usual practice is to offer a dana. So off we went to Kayangan (a meditation retreat site in Klang) to offer dana. As usual, I would also capture photos there, especially beautiful plants and flowers in the compound. This photo shows a bromeliad in full bloom.

Aren't the rich crimson colour beautiful? Reminds me of a luscious red lipstick!! Hope you like it!

Is RED your favourite colour?

Playing with Lanterns

The Mid-Autumn Festival is only 3 days away. It falls on 14th Sept this year. This weekend, there will many lantern parties be held.

Here is a photo that I took 2 years ago where we had a Lantern Get-together at Kayangan. This young lady came out with the idea of hanging many lanterns on a long stick. The idea was brilliant as the lanterns looked so beautiful when they were all lit-up.

I am looking forward to playing with lanterns this Saturday and Sunday!!! Despite not being of the age to play with it anymore but who cares, the heart is always young! So I am gonna enjoy my lantern nites!
Hope you too!

Serene Lily

Despite growing in a pond of murky water, it can still bloom to be such beauty. It looks so serene.

Can I stand tall and stay calm and serene regardless of my surrounding ~ just like this lily?

This plant attracted my attention with its vibrant red bloom. I don't know its name though.

Does the red bloom draw you to it when you view this photo?

Flower & Sky

This is another flower that I found at Kayangan. It is not the flower that strucked me. It is the colour of the flower and sky ~ they look so good when combined together! Between the land and the sky, I choose the flower!

How about you? What would you choose?

Dewdrops on Lotus

On Sunday morning, I was up early for my trip to Kayangan, to offer food dana. As I walked around Kayangan, I took many photos of the flowers and plants there.

Dana is a Pali or Sanskrit word, that means "giving". It refers specifically to taking delight in giving. As the Buddha taught, generosity is an essential part of the Buddhist practice. Giving frees us from attachment to our worldly things. It also directly benefits others. Thus, in the Buddhist tradition, practitioners happily support Buddhist abbeys, temples, centers, teachers, monastics, practitioners, and activities that benefit the society. Dana may be offered in the form of food, monk robes, money or even physical help (for instance, in Kayangan, some people help with the planting of trees).

Have you done any dana lately? Did it bring you joy?
"Use your first smile, your first form of generosity, of love, of kindness—use it at home; start at home. And if there is something left over—if … your plate is just full of abundance of patience and goodness and smiles and joy, then by all means, you should go … and offer that to others. But we must begin at home." by Dr Robin Smith
