Beautiful hue of gold is appearing at the paddy field in Sekinchan. In a week or two, harvest will begin!! What a beautiful sight! I was giddy with joy when I saw the golden husks of paddy rice. It's my first time to see ripened paddy field. Oh...I wish I could be there during harvest time. Sekinchan, here I come!!! Yahooooo!

Pink Amaryllis
My Amaryllis plant produced 4 beautiful white blooms with streaks of red and pink recently. They lasted for over 3 weeks with each flower blooming after one another. Those blooms bring me lotsa joy and satisfaction as I check on them every morning.
Gardening has such a calming effect on me! What do you do to calm yourself?

Monochrome Monday - Tree & Gazebo

Glad to share with you this photo that I took at the park near my house. It was a Sunday evening with bright setting sun. I think it would be just perfect for taking black & white photos.
Since I joined the Monochrome Monday posting, it has made me work on improving my black & white photography. It can be quite frustrating seeing my photos turned out poorly, yet those posted on the Monochrome Monday's portal looking spectacular! So, I try to view my objects in black & white and try to figure out how the object texture and light play on the object would turn out.
Today's photo is one of the result of my experiment in BW photography. I have added a little brown tint using Photoshop to this photo. I love the shadow of the leaves on the tree trunk. In my opinion, the tree trunk has interesting texture that adds depth to this photo. Constructive feedback to improve my monochrome shot is a great welcome!

Thanks to Aileni who is hosting the Monochrome Monday portal. Please visit it to view more gorgeous photos in Black & White!

My World Tues - Plant A Tree
Together with Rev. Mahinda and Sis. Sumangala, we plant a tree in the compound of Alokarama Retreat Centre during the recent Green Thumb Workshop. The sapling of this fragrant flowering plant was brought back by Rev. Mahinda from Sarnath, India (which was the deer park where the Buddha preached his first sermon).
I really had lotsa fun learning about herbs gardening and nutritional diet during the workshop. It was also a spiritual uplifting weekend for us as we were able to take time off our hectic lives to calm our mind with meditation and minful living.

Paddy Field & Stormy Sky
This photo was taken at the paddy field during our recent trip to Sekinchan ~ a fishing town that is also known for its scenic paddy field.
A big storm was brewing in the background and the sky is turning dark. It was a big storm that hit us before we left Sekinchan. I love the green colour of the paddy field. We will be going back there in July to capture the golden colour of the field when the paddy is ripe for harvest!!
