Stuffed Crab from Kemaman

A must-have when one visits the Kemaman town, which is 15-min drive from the beach of Cherating, is none other than Stuffed Crab!!! It came with a tangy chilly sauce and these crabs were stuffed with crab meat and other ingredients that I can't identify. They were yummy!

SS2 Market - Flowers Stall

This flower stall at SS2 morning market carried so many varieties of fresh orchids!

Seeing these beautiful flowers put a smile on my face but check out the vendor. He didn't look happy at all. Mmmm...what do you think put the frown on his face?

How is chicken sold at your wet market?

At the Playground

I love this photo the moment I saw it. The vibrant colour, the bright sun and the surrounding trees make this photo nice to look at. No photo editing has been done on it, except for re-sizing & adding the watermark.

My nephews and nieces were seen here at the playground of Tun Fatimah Stadium in Melaka on a Sunday morning. How do you like to spend your Sunday morning?

A Stroll at Portuguese Square

Portuguese Square in Melaka is a great location for a nice stroll in the morning or evening. If you have not done it, do check it out! The sunset here is beautiful! You can see sunset view on 2 of my previous postings:
  1. Sunset at Portuguese Settlement's Jetty
  2. Portuguese Settlement (when the old broken jetty was still around)

Qing Ming 2010

Qing Ming (Tomb Sweeping Day) has just passed recently. This year the actual day for Qing Ming fell on April 5th. However, one can choose to visit the cemetery of ancestors within 10 days before or after the actual day.

For my family, it is a day where 3 generations gather together in our hometown, Melaka. Most importantly, this day brought everyone together with the common objectives, i.e. to remember our elders who have passed on. It is wonderful to have our young nieces and nephews with us when we visited my grandparents' and dad's cemetery. They offered a helping hand in cleaning up the cemeteries and also joined us in offering prayers to our elders. They may not know their ancestors personally but with their active participation on that day, they showed deep respect and a great sense of belonging.

Qing Ming is uphold as part of Confucious teaching on filial piety. Bet this noble teacher had other plan in mind too ~ i.e. to bring a family together for a happy reunion!

Seen in the photo is my niece refreshing the faded words carved on my grandma's tombstone with a new coat of paint.

Puchong Yong Tau Fu

This shack in a suburb called Puchong serves the famous food called Yong Tau Fu. Yong Tau Fu is fishpaste-stuffed vegetables, tofu or dried beancurd. This photo was taken on last Saturday when the dining crowd has just started to come in.

To order your Yong Tau Fu, you need to go to a counter where different vegetables are served. Pick the vegies that you want, place them in a basket and pass it to a guy who will write down your table no. and additional orders, e.g. rice or fishballs or paper-wrapped chicken.

The guy will then pass your basket containing the vegies to these ladies, who will stuff minced fish paste (as seen in the trays below) and cook the vegies either in soup or deep fry them.

Below photos show the food that will be served on your table.

Here's a bowl of soup served with stuffed vegetables e.g. bittergourd, lady fingers and soft tofu. The fish balls were the one I like most!! The fish paste was generously stuffed into the vegetables. Each Yong Tau Fu costs only RM1.10 (equivalent to USD0.30).

Below shows deep fried stuffed brinjal and beancurd skin.

This is the paper-wrapped fried chicken that we ordered. In the package with the chicken are the marinade sauce with ginger and garlic.

It was indeed a yummy dinner!!!

Organic Day

CETDEM (Centre of Environment, Technology & Development Malaysia) organized an Organic Day to educate the public about organic farming & food. There were stalls set up to sell organic products, educational sessions on how to make compost, dialogue & a tour of CETDEM's organic farm. It was my first time joining CETDEM's activity and I was enlightened by what I learnt.

Here is a photo showing the fair where organic products were being promoted & sold.

Stadium Tun Fatimah

What a great way to wake up early on a Sunday morning to go out for some exercise! And here's a brilliantly beautiful sunrise that I saw at the Tun Fatimah Stadium in Melaka where we went for our morning stroll last Sunday.

This is my first posting this year for Sky Watch Friday. Go over there to view more photos of stunning skies from around the world!

I just had a hillarious time watching Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin on It's Complicated! Gosh, I keep breaking into unstoppable guffaws! I hope our new neighbours would not complain tomorrow. If you have the chance catch this funny romantic comedy! Bet you will not be able to stop laughing too. Wish you a great weekend ahead!

Halal

In Malaysia, many food stalls have this "Halal" certification placed to inform Muslim patrons that the food served fulfills the Islamic dietary law (which is similar to the Jewish's kosher).

This stall in Sunway Pyramid serves Chinese porridge and breads. Coincidentally you can see the Tony Roma signage reflected on the glass display. Even Tony Roma's serves halal food in Malaysia. That means no pork ribs ~ a signature dish of this restaurant. Therefore, many Tony Roma customers who favour this dish have to travel a long distance across the Causeway to Singapore to enjoy it!

Another Hamster

This is a little hamster belongs to my neighbour's daughter. We were invited for a dinner of Apom (flour pancake) last Wednesday. I joined the children who played with the hamster. As usual, I prefer to join the children than the adults!

Another good news to share. I helped a friend who lost her Schnauzer dog with someone who found one in her residential area through our community website (read it here). It was such a simple deed and yet, able to bring so much joy to my friends and family, who are now happily reunited with their dear pet.

I also have a sad news to share. An Indonesian woman that I have known for over 2 years were driven away by robbers who stole her lady boss's car on early Sunday morning when they were out doing delivery. The lady boss was hospitalized due to head injury. But the worst has happened to her staff. Until today, this young Indonesian lady is still missing. She has not returned or found by police. I pray hard that she is left unharmed by the robbers. The crime rate in Malaysia is very high these days. The police force has left many of us disappointed. Almost every day we hear about robbery or break-ins. It makes me wonder what the police in this country is doing!!! God, please save this young lady from any harm. Let her return safely.

Moon Window of Peranakan House at Heeren Street

A round hole that allows one to look through to your neighbour's house ~ what should I call it? A moon window, that's what came to my mind.

This was taken at a traditional Peranakan (Straits-born Chinese) house at Heeren Street Melaka. The patterns around the round window makes this window attractive. Below this window is a nice bench with attractive patterns too. See the photo below where I got my nephew and niece to pose for a photo.

Yellow Car in An Alley

Found this yellow car in an old alley behind the houses in Heeren Street, Melaka. The car together with the interesting wall seemed like an interesting subject to me. What do you think?
I have been lazy from posting lately! Embarrass for me to admit it. But I believe a short break is good to let me bounce back with more vibes again!
"Use your first smile, your first form of generosity, of love, of kindness—use it at home; start at home. And if there is something left over—if … your plate is just full of abundance of patience and goodness and smiles and joy, then by all means, you should go … and offer that to others. But we must begin at home." by Dr Robin Smith
